Have You Been a Victim of Hate Crime?

Tuesday, 6th February 2007

On the 26th January 2007 “True Vision” was launched to tackle hate incidents all across the region. This initiative will encourage victims, witnesses and third party associates to report incidents to the Police of any nature that may constitute a hate crime. Particularly, those which are directed at a group or an individual’s race, gender, sexuality, disability, religion or belief. It allows for the person filling in the report to remain anonymous if they wish to do so or provide as much information as they would like.

This will give the Police and other relevant agencies to build on patterns of behaviour, highlight areas of concern and provide the authorities with a “True Vision” of the hate crime within our communities. By targeting key areas, the Police and partnership agencies can work together to help reduce the impact of hate crime within our communities. Anyone can report a hate crime by simply filling in a basic report that can be easily accessed electronically from the True Vision, Humberside Police and the SHREC website. Hard copies can be found in many voluntary agencies like SHREC, shops, café’s etc. If you require any help in filling these forms in or have any questions about the initiative, the staff members at the South Humber Racial Equality Council will happily assist.
